The inner center rod is strong and has enough support to actually hold 144 inches of drapery. I set the 4 brackets at 48 inches and it is very sturdy. The brackets are strong and can be set at different lengths. The screw that holds the rod in place does a great job. I open and close my drapes a lot and the rod is very secure.
